So Basically, I kept seeing these photos online of a castle in ruin… the stone structure of a building the only thing left as the rest burnt down. I was so mesmerized by the structure and kept telling myself I need to find out exactly where that is in New Hampshire and go do a photoshoot there. So last week I saw the photos again on Tumblr and immediately made a post on my personal Facebook about wanting to go do a shoot there, and if any of my friends wanted to model for me that would be awesome. Maybe 10 minutes after I posted it, my great friend Alexa said she wanted to go! So we planned for Sunday September 23rd 2012. She picked me up around 7:30am and we drove out to Chesterfield. The drive was easy and seemed to go by quick, I think it was only an hour and a half. Once we got there the castle ruins were just maybe 200 feet away from the parking area of the forest. Since it was so close to the car, we decided to come back to it and to see what was up in the trails for a view. Lets just say it was steep. So after we made it up a half mile (which seemed like 10 miles) there was an opening overlooking a pond. It was beautiful, but no real opportunity for great photos because of the direction of the sun, so we made our way back down the trail. Of course being careful to not be eaten by bears, Rollie lead the way, which was much faster on the way down. We got back to the castle ruins and started getting ready to take photos. When we arrived back there, there were 3 people discussing a wedding. Sounded like their daughter was going to get married there, and it sure is a stunning backdrop for a magical wedding. We starting snooping around the basement since they were over by the staircase and we hoped to get haunted a bit by Madame Sherri herself, but she left us alone. Its possible she just enjoyed our presence. There are rumors that the castle was a brothel that Madame Sherri ran. People have been haunted here but most likely in the evening hours. The truth about the castle is that it burnt down and Madame Sherri was selling the property after she got very sick, and apparently the day the papers were signed she passed away. There are so many great stories about her as well, such as she was a wild one, who used to drive around town in her convertible with nothing on but a fur coat! She was a well known costume designer and would often wear out and around town her costumes. She seemed like an original and sure is an inspiration in my eyes, even with all that crazy in her veins…
